Vietmaster is among very few Vietnamese language schools whose focus is Viet second/third generations and people whose partners are Vietnamese.

We aim at giving practical lessons at different levels to help our students communicate better in Vietnamese. With our academic background in education and education technology, we apply our knowledge into designing effective and efficient online courses which take into account the unique features of online learning.

Communicative Vietnamese

PRE-INTERMEDIATE COMMUNICATION (25 lessons)

Target learners

Can pronounce most Vietnamese words and tones correctly
Can speak simple Vietnamese words and sentences to self-introduce and describe objects.
Can answer simple questions with “ai, cái gì, con gì, tại sao, để làm gì”
Understand direct and simple sentences but struggle with more complex and colloquial ones.
Have limited vocabulary and linking words

Objectives

Acquire more intermediate and advanced vocabulary
Understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment)
Communicate in simple and slightly complex sentences (long sentences with linking words) on familiar topics
Describe in simple terms aspects of their background, immediate environment (family, friends) and matters in areas of immediate need (ask for directions, seeing the doctor)

ELEMENTARY COMMUNICATION (25 lessons)

Target learners

Beginners who haven’t learned Vietnamese before.
People who know a little Vietnamese but not enough to communicate at the most basic level.

Objectives

At the end of the course, students are able to:

Recognize Vietnamese alphabetical letters and sounds.
Pronounce and write most Vietnamese words correctly.
Introduce themselves and other people (name, age, nationality, jobs,…) in grammatically correct sentences.-
Understand and use simple vocabulary and structures to express basic needs like ordering food, buying things, or asking for directions.
Describe objects, people, animals, weather, and daily routines.
Get to know more about the Vietnamese people and culture.

INTERMEDIATE COMMUNICATION (25 lessons)

Target learners

Can read and write in Vietnamese
Have sufficient vocabulary and grammatical structures to ask and answer about familiar and necessary topics when traveling to Vietnam
Can present about a topic of choice with preparation
Understand through listening about basic topics and can ask for further clarifications in case not understand

Objectives

Listening: Understand and answer to questions about daily life, can follow simple TV game shows
Speaking: Describe and express opinions about slightly complex daily topics, know how to use linking words and complex sentence structures, special sentences and exclamatory sentences
Reading: Comprehend short announcements such as menus, lost and found notice or signs, and simplified news articles with the length of 1 page
Writing: Write simple texts of half-a-page length expressing opinions or telling a story with linking words and complex sentence structures

Intensive Reading and Writing
